Research activity of the department
Research is carried out on the following fields:
- Toxicological evaluation (acute toxicity, sub-acute toxicity,
local tolerance, etc. in mouse, rat, and rabbit) of various
chemicals and drug
- Target animal tolerance studies of veterinary drugs
- Drug incompatibilities studies
- Examination of drug-metabolism of certain veterinary drugs (e.g.
ionophore anticoccidials and antibacterial agents)
- Comparative pharmacokinetic investigation of veterinary drugs
- Determination of residues of veterinary drugs for proposal of
withdrawal time
- The in vivo and in vitro examination of efficacy of antibacterial
agents
- Theoretical and methodological research of antimicrobial
resistance
The toxicological studies and the laboratory parts of the tolerance
and target animal safety tests are performed in a GLP-unit, which
was established in 1999.
