Research activity of the department
The research projects are focused on the synthesis of new compounds,
potentially with biological activity, in the field of
nitrogen-containing heterocycles.
The main targets are
-
Alkaloids of isoquinoline, indolizidine and
tropane families,
-
Cycloadditions with isoquinolines towards new
heterocycles,
-
Synthesis of selective ion channel antagonists.
The structure elucidation of the synthesized compounds are achieved by
application of modern spectroscopic (nuclear magnetic resonance,
infrared) methods.
Some projects are pursued in contract research with the pharmaceutical
industry.
