Emergency Service

Small animal clinics:

Emergency service is provided over 24 hours per day on 365 days per year; the following manpower is provided outside the working hours (weekdays: from 18 p.m. till 8.00 a.m., as well as weekends and bank holidays for 24 hours):

  • Department and Clinic of Internal Medicine: one veterinarian, one technician, one intern, and one student in house, one ultrasound, and one exotic pet specialist on call. On Sundays one laboratory assistant performs emergency laboratory diagnostic work for the clinics for max. 8 hours

  • Department and Clinic of Surgery and Ophthalmology: one surgeon (also trained for radiology), one technician, and one intern in house (with provision of specialist.)

  • Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology: one veterinarian, one intern, and one technician in house.

Clinic for Large Animals:

One assistant, one intern, and 2 to 4 students in house, an emergency team of 2 surgeons, and one anaesthetist call; in addition one veterinarian of the obstetric team on call, during the foaling season.

Consultations

The clinics are open 52 weeks (year round)

Small animal clinics:

Most of the services are available for 5 days per week, during working hours: general internal medicine, cardiology, ultrasonography, exotic pets, obstetrics, surgery.

Some special services are offered on particular time of the week: dermatology, endocrinology, oncology, ophthalmology, dentistry. 5 days per week, mostly in the morning (except ophthalmology, which is available 2 days a week).  

Clinic for Large Animals:

Most of the services are available for 5 days per week, during working hours.

Emergency service: 365 days, 24 hours, a colic team for equine abdominal surgery provides a call-in service during all time of the year.

Consultation hours

Depending on the clinic and type of consultation

generally 4-8 hours per day, i.e. from 8:00 - 12:00 and in the afternoon and evenings

Consultation on Surgery: 9.00-12.00, 14.00-20.00 on weekdays plus 24-hour on duty emergency service (at weekends, too).
Ophthalmology: 9.00-12.00 on Mondays, 15.00-18.00 on Thursdays,
Dentistry: making appointments by phone,
Radiology: 9.00-15.00 on weekdays,
C.T.: making appointments by phone)
